About Product Information Management -PIM-
In all corporate activities, it is important to be able to manage product information systematically, and centrally in order for it to be used in various mediums. Product information management is collaborated with a wide variety of fields, such as internal order management systems, inventory control systems, or design/manufacturing systems. But the biggest involvement is with the fields of marketing/sales, Web sites, catalogs, and sales material. Product information required by each field is diverse, and it is required to limit the information and interfaces delivered to each sector with the right amount of content.
Although the basic product information (product photos, illustrations, specifications, prices) required for the promotion/marketing field are available in the DAM system, a PIM system is necessary in order to post to Web sites, or catalogs the diverse information of products such as, product parts, products made up by a combination of different products, products with different sizes and specification, or products that have different information according to the global sales region.
